A 7-year-old boy who went viral for his love of corn was invited to South Dakota’s “Corn Palace” last week, where he was named the state’s official “Corn-Bassador.”
Tariq’s commentary on corn in a “Recess Therapy” video was flipped on TikTok into a popular audio. Dubbed the “Corn Kid,” Tariq declares in the video that the first time he tried corn with butter, “everything changed.”
Tariq went on to say that he couldn’t “imagine a more beautiful thing,” than the “big lump with knobs” and juice.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem declared Sept. 3 as “Official Corn-bassador Tariq Day.”
“South Dakota is one of the top corn producers in the nation, providing nourishment to people across the globe but especially to Tariq, a 7-year-old boy who recently discovered that corn was real,” Noem stated.
Noem also tweeted pics of the special day, “The Corn Kid came to South Dakota’s very own @Corn_Palace!!!” she wrote, adding that “Tariq’s a-maize-ing endorsement contains more than a kernel of truth and has reached ears across the world via social media.”
Twitter now wants to know whether Tariq’s new title comes with a check…
