Popular rapper and singer Swae Lee has been tapped as the new CEO of SYN CITY, a first of its kind, “mafia metaverse” game built for the blockchain.
Swae Lee will “streamline the upcoming clash between digital art, music and metaverse gaming in 2022.”
“I always do stuff that is interesting, either to me or my millions of followers,” Swae Lee adds. “I live in the moment, yet I also enjoy trying and exploring new things. The concept of SYN CITY struck a chord with me because it allows me to visualize some of my ideas and I get to be part of a new frontier in technology. It makes me optimistic for the future of our society.”
The role may seem like a bit of a leap from his musical career, but the company plans to utilize his expertise to build relationships and devise strategy and revenue for the SYN CITY metaverse.
And most likely, pull in support from some of his celebrity friends.
The five-time Grammy nominee will also oversee day-to-day operations in entertainment marketing, music, non-fungible tokens, esports, A-List KOLs, music tech software and building strategic partnerships in the sports industry.
SYN CITY currently has a weighty lineup of backers, including Twitch co-founder Justin Kan and Robin Chan’s Goat Capital, Spartan Group, Hack VC, A&T Capital, Animoca Brands and more.
“In a short time, we have onboarded dozens of key opinion leaders, partners and innovators with an aggregated user base of over 160 million users across social platforms,” says SYN CITY co-founder Roy Liu.
“We are only at the beginning. Our ambition was always to attract intellectual capital and talent to augment our constant, live feedback with our community via Twitter Spaces, TikTok and more. We needed real expertise in these fields to help SYN CITY surpass the next level. Swae Lee checks all the right boxes across the board.”
