Social media star, actress, author, and entrepreneur Tabitha Brown announced her new wine collection at the 2024 Essence Festival.
The collection continues her four-year-long partnership with Target, during which she has released various products, including home decor, food, clothing and stationary items.
“It feels like family. I don’t ever have to worry about conforming. I can just be myself and to just grow in that way, in this venture of life, in business, I just feel blessed by that,” said Brown.
This isn’t her first time announcing her collaborations at the Essence Festival. She mentions the event brings the Black community together and says, “Nobody represents and supports me the way my people support me. So this is where I always want to come make announcements.”
In her collaboration, Brown will release a Moscato called “Love Y’all!” and a red blend called “Hello There!”. She even teased a new product coming out later but couldn’t say more.
Reflecting on past experiences with wine, Brown explained that she started drinking it 20 years ago when her mother was sick, and a friend suggested wine could help her relax. Since then, Brown has enjoyed various types of wine, proving that this wine collection isn’t a random move since the public has formed a different perception of her. She has been a fan for two decades now.
Over time, she learned what type she preferred, describing the kinds she had but expressing her fondness for a glass of cabernet with a “little bit of dark chocolate.”
She recounts feeling a wave of nostalgia when drinking her go-to order from when her mother was alive, signifying a pleasant memory amid her new business venture.
When Victoria Uwumarogie, a reporter for Essence, asked about her comparison with well-known star Martha Stewart, Brown emphasized that while Stewart is “amazing,” she said, “I’ve just done it my own way, and I didn’t have a blueprint for it. I just figured it out as I went.”
Brown’s wine collection will appear in Target stores on July 21 and will be available at a budget-friendly cost of $7.99.
