Serena Williams Announces Children’s Book Debut

Serena Williams announced that she is currently working on her first children’s book, “The Adventures of Qai Qai.”

The book is inspired by her daughter, Olympia’s favorite doll— a social media star — who already has over three million fans across her social media platforms.

“Since realizing @RealQaiQai’s ability to spread joy to our own family and also millions of others around the world, we’ve wanted to tell her story in every way possible,” Williams said in an Instagram post, adding that the story is about “the power of friendship and imagination.”

The book already has its own promotional page where “The Adventures of Qai Qai’s” is described as being a “magical picture book in which a little girl learns to believe in herself with the help of her doll and best friend, Qai Qai.”

The book is slated for release in September 2022.

Since giving birth, Williams has been open about the ups and downs of her motherhood journey.

In an interview with Vogue, Williams said: “After having a child, my heroes are moms because women are superheroes. To have a baby and then have to go to work two or three weeks later or work a 9-to-5…. I’m fortunate to not have to do that.”

Williams added, “I’m at a loss for words when I think of women who work day in and day out, providing for their families, when I know how hard it is for me to leave my daughter. I never felt that way until I became a mom. I think women need to be recognized.”
