Mo’Nique’s Club Shay Shay interview is already reaping her rewards as the comedian announced just a day later that she will be hitting the road with her “twin brother” Katt Williams for his Dark Matter stand-up tour.
Much like Williams’ own Club Shay Shay sitdown, the interview went viral after Mo’Nique used the platform to air her gripes about several Hollywood stars.
“Y’all know that [Katt] is my fraternal twin brother, nonbiological,” Mo’Nique said in the video alongside her husband, Sidney Hicks. “I’m going to be joining my twin brother, Katt Williams, on The Dark Matter tour. Connecticut, I’ll see y’all tomorrow with our brother Katt Williams.”
After the interview aired, Mo’Nique was called out by fellow comedian D.L. Hughley, who accused her of being a “liar.”
“Welp, ‘Club Shay Shay’ is getting messier and messier,” Hughley began. “It’s almost like Wendy Williams didn’t go nowhere, she just got a weight set.”
Hughley continued, “Every time I see Mo’Nique these days, she’s doing some greasy-ass video, with her and her daddy, complaining about something.”
Mo’Nique says the friction between them began after she told him she was “offended” by his co-host, who asked her an inappropriate question on air. Hughley wasn’t in the studio then, but Mo’Nique claimed that she called him and he was dismissive.
“Mo’Nique’s a liar. When Mo’Nique did call me, I hear her complaints, I listened to her and I pulled the segment. So, if I had been as dismissive as she alleges I was, that segment would’ve aired. It didn’t, because I respected her wishes. She’s a liar,’ he said on Instagram.
Mo’Nique also revisited her feud with Oprah Winfrey for inviting her brother on her talk show, where he admitted to molesting the Oscar-award-winning actress.
“You betrayed me, sister,” Mo’Nique said of Winfrey. “Family is sacred, and we don’t cross the line with family.”
She also believes that Winfrey mistreated Taraji P. Henson on the set of The Color Purple, partly because Henson agreed to audition.
“We know you were mistreated. We know it wasn’t right. We know it was unfair. And then you turned around and say, ‘Oh, but Lady O handled it.’ I have a problem with that. That allows Lady O to keep doing what she’s doing and we’re in a position of, ‘I don’t want to say nothing because we saw how Mo’Nique got whooped,” she declared.
