He Played College Basketball in the U.S. and Professionally in Europe
Ujiri attended a prep school in Seattle while living with a Nigerian family. He would eventually play two years of junior college ball at Bismarck State in North Dakota before signing with Montana State University. But his time playing there was short lived. Less than a year after arriving on campus in Montana, Ujiri was off to Europe to pursue a professional career.
But Ujiri would soon learn that a prosperous basketball career would not be in the cards. He bounced around several countries, playing for teams in England, Belgium, Germany, Finland and Denmark, earning $5,000 per month. After six seasons, Ujiri decided it was time for him to pursue a new path in the sport he loved.
