Mobile app Tapcart recently announced their collaboration with LeBron James’ Uninterrupted as the sports company aims to expand its direct-to-consumer business.
Together with the app, the athlete empowerment brand, created by James along with sports agent Maverick Carter, will introduce technology to their company. As part of the new collaboration, both the brand and the app have created a new eCommerce app for customers. According to the company, the new no-code mobile app will be part of an initiative to increase community growth amongst the brand.
“As we grow the direct-to-consumer business at Uninterrupted, our focus is anchored in the three pillars of Product, Content, and Community,” said the Vice President of Commerce for The SpringHill Company, Steve Friend, per an official statement. “It is extremely important for us to stay up to date on the most current tech trends and methods in connecting with our consumers, both on their turf and in intuitive ways that matter to our business.”
“Leveraging Tapcart allows us to reach our audiences and communities on a more personal level by meeting them on mobile, which gets us one step closer to our goal of 1-to-1 engagement within our community,” he added.
Founded in 2014, Uninterrupted’s focus revolves around telling the untold stories of famous athletes in leagues such as the NBA and the MLS. Although the brand is primarily known for their apparel, Uninterrupted also features Emmy Award-winning documentaries.
In 2022, the company’s “The Shop: Uninterrupted” won the award for “Outstanding Edited Sports Series” at the 42nd Sports Emmys award. The show was recently announced as a nominee once again at this year’s Sports Emmys for “Outstanding Hosted Edited Series.”
Hosted by both James and Carter, “The Shop: Uninterrupted” features interviews with guests of the show in a barbershop setting as a tribute to James’ childhood. Discussing a variety of topics, James and Carter have previously been joined on the show with a variety of athletes, actors and musicians, politicians and more. Amongst the “The Shop: Uninterrupted” guests are Stacey Abrams, Chadwick Boseman, Mary J. Blige, Don Cheadle and Pharrell Williams.
The athlete empowerment brand has also released multiple documentaries on athletes who have broken barriers. In 2020, Uninterrupted released a documentary titled “What’s My Name?,” on the career of sports legend Muhammad Ali. The documentary was critically acclaimed, winning the award for “Outstanding Long Sports Documentary” at the Sports Emmys.
Their latest release will focus on telling the story of a nine-time Olympic gold medalist, Carl Lewis. Along with interviews with both Lewis and the people that know him, the documentary is also slated to use never-before-seen archives.
