Iran’s Uprising Collides With Trump’s Foreign Policy

Karen Hunter and guest co-host Seena Ghaznavi grapple with the contradictions in President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on Iran.

“It’s 13 days into the new year. I feel like this is already the longest month,” Hunter opens before going on to question Trump’s pledge to “rescue protesters in Iran” while Americans who protest at home “might get shot in the face.”

Ghaznavi then notes the fact that alliances and enemies seem to shift by the day.

“Russia’s bad, right? Well, it depends on what day of the week it is,” he says, before adding that China is labeled an enemy even as the United States cuts deals and relies on its debt holdings. For Hunter, the result is dizzying. “[There are] too many hypocritical things happening all at once,” she says. “None of it is lining up with truth or sense.” Ghaznavi goes on to describe the crackdown in Iran following Trump’s public statements of support.

“He had 11 days to protect these people. What the hell?” he asks, explaining that demonstrations, sparked by inflation, now reflect more profound anger at an oppressive regime. “People know even if they step outside in those streets, they could be killed, and they’re still doing it.”

Ghaznavi also voices doubt about American intentions, suggesting Trump may ultimately pursue a deal that benefits the U.S. while delaying real change for Iranians.

Host of “The Hottest Show in the Galaxy” on SiriusXM (Ch. 126, Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m. ET), Karen dives into topics ranging from Bible prophecy and the purpose of race to which TV shows and movies are worth watching. The podcast also features interviews with some of the most compelling voices of our time.
