Tytus Howard, OT, Alabama State Hornets
At 6-foot-6 and 311 pounds, Howard has all the size NFL teams will look for along the offensive line. A high school quarterback from Monroeville, Alabama, he was asked to transition to tight end during the recruiting process. But his massive size paired with special athleticism made him a perfect candidate for the offensive line, where he started 13 games a sophomore and junior, followed by all 11 of the Hornets’ contest in his final year.
Howard’s stellar play earned him a spot in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. In a weak class, his athleticism could shine through at the NFL Combine. While he will need to improve his technique, particularly with hand placement, his competitiveness at the point of attack should translate to the professional game. His versatility will allow him to play guard as well as tackle, which is added value that could make him intriguing during draft time.
Should Howard be drafted and make an NFL roster, he will join over 20 Alabama State Hornets to do so, most notably former Vikings and Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson and current Jets running back Isaiah Crowell.
