Erykah Badu has teamed up with Californian rapper and entrepreneur Berner to release her own marijuana strain, “That Badu.”
Badu announced the upcoming strain (a Limoncello cross-bred farmed by Mad Cow Genetics) in a video alongside her new business partner. The singer’s eldest daughter Puma Curry also makes a cameo in the video.
“The first time we demoed it, it was about four of us and we had one spliff, no tobacco. And we each hit it two or three times and we were like comatose. But then, the next time we did the experiment, we each hit it one time and we had such a wonderful experience,” she explained.
The superstar notes that consumers and smoke the strain and still remain productive throughout the day.
“It’s really nice and natural, sort of like a ballad,” Badu says. “It just makes you move light and it kind of gets you through your day and you’re not zooted.” The Grammy award-winning musician also announced the launch of her new mushroom tea box. The set features two types of psilocybin tea (Ginger Magic, Earl Grey Creme) and practical tea (Golden Focus, Bergamot Brain Boost). Both sets come in a drawstring bag.
“These are really for your evenings or meditations or vision quests or evenings when you have an opportunity to commune with your mind,” Badu said, adding that the teas are “very good for emotional balance” and “any kind of nervous system malfunction or dysfunction.”
“That Badu” will be available at Cookies, Berner’s industry-leading cannabis store.
Badu joins a slew of celebrities who have already dipped their toes into the cannabis industry. Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Jay-Z, Soulja Boy and Drake are just some artists who have invested in the weed business.
