ESPN’s Elle Duncan Makes a Power Move to Netflix

Last week, it was announced that ESPN’s Elle Duncan was making a power move to streaming behemoth Netflix as the face of the company’s growing sports coverage.

Per The Athletic, who was first to report the news, Duncan, 42, will become Netflix’s “first high-profile, full-time on-air personality” as it continues to expand its sports portfolio.

And while the contract hasn’t officially been signed yet, Duncan’s proven experience and talents will reportedly get her a contract that “is expected” to allow her to appear on other networks.

Duncan’s rise came during her almost decade-long tenure with ESPN, where, since starting with the network in 2016, she has served in multiple roles including co-hosting the 6pm SportsCenter for roughly five years, hosting WNBA Countdown and College GameDay for women’s college basketball and being the lead presenter for the women’s Final Four.

The soon-to-be face of Netflix sports is an unabashed Georgia lover who always, win or lose, supports her Bulldogs and Falcons.

Starting in the new year, she will be with a brand that is involved with many sports including the NFL and MLB as well as other sporting events including WWE and boxing.

But most significant is the fact that a Black woman will now be at the helm for Netflix as it continues its ascent in sports coverage, and Duncan’s face will be seen across the platform’s many live sports broadcasts and studio programming.
