    Jess Is a Mess

A few days ago, Jessica Moore, known professionally as “Jess Hilarious” and co-host of the talk show The Breakfast Club, went live on Instagram to express her feelings about her producer and new co-host, Loren LoRosa, and fill-in, still having a job after Jess returned from maternity leave.

Most specifically, Jess’ “Jess with the Mess” segment, which was initially an Instagram segment that launched her career, carried over onto the morning show and was still being done by LoRosa, even after Jess had returned. That’s not very mother of you, but alas, if Jess felt her position was threatened—which is understandable, especially since many audience members enjoyed Lorosa’s more journalistic approach to hot topics—a point Moore even acknowledged.

Basically, Jessica felt betrayed and blindsided that LoRosa remained on the show, even after tensions arose between the two.

To be honest, it’s hard to like Jess.

At first, she was funny, and to a certain extent, she still is. However, she continued to cross lines, including making transphobic comments—as if she is not constantly misgendered—and doubled down on misinformation after being corrected, which has made her harder to stomach than the abs she claims are not etched.

About a week ago, she made comments about a CHILD with cancer for having patchy hair, which is crazy because she is not known for her long tresses. To add insult to injury, she is the same person who stated how she regretted making fun of Chadwick Bozeman’s weight; he died from cancer a few weeks later, even though it was reported by a source, once close to Jess, that she had modified her body in a very dangerous and unhealthy way, in order to feel better about herself.  A few years ago, she made a terrible skit, in timing and in content, making fun of Tory Lanez shooting Meg Thee Stallion in the foot. She continues to punch down and then wants people to feel sorry for her.

The morning after Jess complained about the unprofessionalism of the situation, she also addressed LoRosa for not voicing her dismay at being told by Jess to “hush” or “shut up” on air whenever it occurred, citing how LaRosa addressed her in private, instead, which would be the professional thing to do. On her live, she also stated that Charlamagne texted her that instead of telling LoRosa to hush, which is still quite rude, she should tell her to “shut up” instead,  “play into that narrative of y’all not liking each other.”

Jess is not all at fault; the world is good at pitting women against each other, but Jess telling LoRosa to shut up, whether goaded by Charlamagne, as she claims or not, is a decision she made as an adult.

She expected DJ Envy, whose business partner is being investigated for FRAUD while he and said partner are being sued, and Charlamagne, who cozied up to a white supremacist and kinda maybe sexually assaulted his wife, to have her back? How? She even mentions Angela Yee and slightly shades her but still gives her props for dealing with the two of them as long as she did.

Was Jess done wrong? Sure. But was she done wrong by people who have a history of doing people wrong and sat there and eagerly cozied up to them? Absolutely!

Jess is a bully, and if you are going to be a bully, at least be a bully who bullies other bullies or who can withstand being bullied. She is neither; she punches down or cries when she is punched back. Her jokes are ill-timed and ill-informed, and she is expecting better behavior from others than she gives to the world.

Should they have validated her feelings and handled the situation better? Absolutely. Just like so many other situations she could have handled better but chose not to.

Jess wants better than she gives; what a mess.
