Curry Brand Signs South Carolina Freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley

South Carolina Gamecocks freshman guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is living her dream right now.

The South Carolina native is playing for her hometown, undefeated (32-0), SEC regular season and conference tournament championship-winning South Carolina Gamecocks program and is being coached by Dawn Staley. What could be better?

How about a sneaker deal with the greatest shooter the game has ever seen?

Through a new NIL deal, Fulwiley is now a brand ambassador for the Curry Brand, a division under the Under Armour umbrella.

“I decided to join Curry Brand because it felt like family,” said Fulwiley. “I’ve also been watching Stephen Curry since I was young and coming up playing on Team Curry. I’ve always had a close connection to the brand.”

In high school, Fulwiley played for Team Curry, an AAU team created by Steph in his hometown of Charlotte, which is two hours north of Fulwiley’s hometown of Columbia, South Carolina.

“It feels incredible to be picked to represent the Curry Brand,” said the star guard, who became the first freshman in South Carolina school history to be named SEC Tournament MVP. “Knowing that I can be a role model for other young girls to come out here and do exactly what I did, is amazing.”

Dropping a career-high 24 points on LSU in the Championship Final last weekend was just as amazing, and it’s another reason why the brand was so high on her.

“Welcoming MiLaysia Fulwiley to the Curry Brand team is something I am super excited about,” said Stephen Curry to Boardroom. “She is such a unique talent and an unbelievable ambassador for the game of basketball, obviously with strong Carolina ties … We are thrilled to welcome her into the family.”

She now enters a family that features Sacramento Kings’ All-Star De-Aaron Fox, a player with similar traits to Fulwiley.

“I think her style of play is changing the women’s game on the fly. It’s super unique and creative,” described Curry. “She’s got just a flow about her on the floor that I don’t think people have seen for a very long time.”
