The Weekend Entertainment Recap: October 31st

Rihanna’s fanbase can now rejoice as she has released her first song in six years, “Lift Me Up.” The Barbados native made her comeback with an emotional ballad written as a tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman, which will be on the soundtrack of the upcoming Marvel film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The film is set to release on November 11. Boseman died in 2020 at the age of 43 after battling colon cancer. The song, which was penned by Tems, has already received praise from fans. There is even a new Tik Tok trend where users are referring to the song as the National Anthem.

Another trend that developed over the weekend came from Mr. Publicity himself, Kanye “Ye” West. The rapper made a post on his social media that stated Ye had reportedly cut ties with Kanye West and the caption stated, “Had to cut ties bro.” It wasn’t long before his fellow rappers hopped on the trend to troll him.

Curtis Jackson cut ties with 50 Cent, Jada cut ties with Kiss, Noreaga cut ties with N.O.R.E., Jeffrey cut ties with Young Thug and even comedian Duval cut ties with “lil”. The trend got a lot of laughs from social media users although Ye may not have found it as funny. His post has since been deleted.

After sparking dating rumors, Monica seemed to address people who think she’s dating rapper Kodak Black. The rumors erupted after Monica spent her birthday on a date with Kodak Black. Some believed the two were an item while others did not, but Monica took to Twitter to quiet the noise. In regard to the situation, she Tweeted “Not every relationship is about messing or dating! I hang with their moms because I’m their age! LOL.. I’m gonna FOREVER love support & encourage them!” She followed it up with another Tweet that stated “Life’s too short and so is my attention span for foolishness.”

Two people who are dating, ChriseanRock and rapper Blueface, allegedly got into a domestic despite this weekend. ChriseanRock took to Instagram live showing what appeared to be her with a busted lip and nose while Blueface could be heard in the background of the video. She has since recanted her statements blaming it on too much alcohol.

This is not the first time they have had claims of domestic abuse between them. For anyone dealing with domestic abuse please seek help and resources by calling 1.800.799.SAFE (7233), text “START” to 88788 or visit https://www.thehotline.org/.

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has come under criticism this weekend for posting what the media deems an “anti-Semitic” movie titled, “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.” According to its description, the film “uncovers the true identity of the Children of Israel by proving the true ethnicity of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Sons of Ham, Shem & Japheth.”

It continues on to say, “find out what Islam, Judaism and Christianity has covered up for centuries in regards to the true biblical identity of the so-called “Negro” in this movie packed with tons of research.” Kyrie has since deleted his Tweet, but her did defend the movie in a press conference.
