‘Judge Steve Harvey’ Coming to a Screen Near You

Steve Harvey will be ditching his trademark three-piece suits for a gown and gavel as he’s just been announced as ABC’s newest TV judge.

According to Variety, the working title is “Judge Steve Harvey,” and the network has already ordered 10, hour-long episodes of the “courtroom comedy series.”

“Steve plays by his own rules, basing his courtroom on his own life experiences and some good old common sense,” the network told the publication.

While the cases will be real, Harvey will welcome “real-life people into his courtroom to rule on conflicts ranging from family disputes and sour friendships to actual small claims.”

However, eager viewers will need to wait until some time next year before the series arrives.

It will be intriguing to see how Harvey fairs as an impartial judge. Harvey’s personal views have regularly been deemed as controversial. In 2010, he went viral after he insisted that it was impossible for men and women to sustain platonic friendships.

“All of my friends are men. I don’t have female friends. I’m incapable of that,” Harvey told Fredricka Whitfield, who asks the comedian why he made the remarks.

“You’re an attractive woman,” Harvey responds. “There are some guys somewhere saying, ‘Yeah, we’re friends.’ No, that’s not true.”

“He’s your friend only because you have made it absolutely clear that nothing is happening except this friendship we have,” he continued. “We remain your friends in hopes that one day there’ll be a crack in the door, a chink in the armor and trust.”
