Ben Carson Remains Loyal to Trump as Administration Jumps Ship

Ben Carson, U.S. Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, has proven his loyalty to President Donald Trump, as he is now the only original administration member remaining following a slew of resignations this week.

Following Wednesday’s Capitol Hill insurrection, driven by Trump, one by one, his allies have distanced themselves from the president, tendring their resignations and publicly condemning the violence.

Even Education Secretary Betsy DeVos submitted her resignation in a letter to President Trump on Thursday, citing the catastrophic coup as the reason for her exit.

“We should be highlighting and celebrating your administration’s many accomplishments on behalf of the American people,” DeVos wrote in the letter, which was obtained by The New York Times. “Instead, we are left to clean up the mess caused by violent protesters overrunning the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to undermine the people’s business.”

“That behavior was unconscionable for our country,” she added. “There is no mistaking the impact your rhetoric had on the situation, and it is the inflection point for me.”

And that means a lot coming from DeVos.

Carson, a former neurosurgeon and member of the coronavirus task force, has remained loyal to his commander-in-chief, even through catching the coronavirus at one of the president’s infamous “super-spreader” events.

Last year, Carson even defended Trump against accusations of racism at the Republican National Convention, continuing to push Trump’s “African Americans are doing better than they’ve ever done before,” rhetoric.

“President Trump does not dabble in identity politics. He wants everyone to succeed and believes in the adage, ‘a rising tide lifts all boats.’ Many on the other side love to incite division by claiming that President Trump is a racist. They could not be more wrong,” he said in August.

He continued: “One of the first things he did as president was bring the Office of Historically Black Colleges and Universities into the White House so that it could get proper attention and financial support. Before the pandemic, African American unemployment was at an all-time low.”

“President Trump accomplished prison reform. He created incentives to encourage investors to become involved with economically-deprived areas of America. […] What is racist is the fact that African Americans have the highest abortion rate. President Trump is the most pro-life President in our country’s history. He will continue to fight for those who cannot yet speak.”

In all reality, nobody is surprised Carson is standing by Trump. It’s unlikely he will resign before his ruinous leader is forced to exit the White House.

But We, the People, shall never forget.
