When Dating Your Wage Leaves You Broke

After fucking around and finding out, Shannon Sharpe has settled a $ 50 million lawsuit for an undisclosed amount from a former sex partner who also accused him of rape. Shannon is more than 35 years older than the woman who sued him, who was 19 at the time they began a sexual relationship. He originally offered the woman $10 million, but it seemed like her lawyer could get more.

After famed sexual assault attorney Tony Buzbee announced on Twitter that the case had been settled, ESPN announced that they would be parting ways with the former tight end turned sports analyst. According to the New York Times, after being part of two successful podcasts, Nightcap with fellow former football player, Chad Ochocinco, (who is a co-defendant in another lawsuit filed against Shannon Sharpe) and Club Shay Shay, Shannon was also looking into closing a podcast deal with The Volume network, as his current one ends at the end of August, potentially worth another $100 million, that may not happen.

Shannon’s hubris was his downfall, and after notoriously taunting that he wants to date his “wage,” instead of dating his age, he is now being taken to the poorhouse.

Let’s be honest, there was no way that a 19-year-old woman he met at the gym was remotely close to having the same amount of money that Shannon had, because if she did, she surely wouldn’t be dating a Black man old enough to be her granddad. Dating your wage for Shannon sounded more like someone he could buy, and a barely legal white woman would be the hottest ticket on the market. After not heeding the warnings of Monique, Lil Yachty and Katt Williams, three people who stood to gain nothing from seeing Shannon not lose everything, he still stood ten toes down in the quicksand of his ego. Shannon had warnings and still showed himself to be extremely messy when he “accidentally” pressed several buttons to go live on Instagram while he was having sex. He has yet to explain how he accidentally went live during the throes of passion, while the phone was located on the other side of the room, but some people have wilder sex than others.

While Shannon could have been providing generational wealth for his children, there is now a white woman younger than his children who will be able to profit from his lack of self-control. In fact, Shannon even capped his own daughter’s wedding at $30,000, but now has to pay someone else’s unwed daughter possibly 1000 times that amount, if not more, as his attorney was originally prepared to settle the case for $10 million.

What so many men fail to realize is that they are not special beyond their money.

While Shannon is in impeccable shape for his age, no 19-year-old woman is seeking a 50-something-year-old man, without money. As of now, Shannon might be forced to retire his jersey and face dating someone who might be looking to retire from her desk job in a few years, with a nice 401k and a reliable Toyota. Shannon was financially sound but refused to listen to anything but the sound of his own illicit thoughts, and now the money that used to talk is going silent.

Being stupid, sloppy and immature is expensive at any time in your life. The problem is that Shannon didn’t want to act his age, let alone date it, and now his Benjamins are rolling back and getting younger than Benjamin Button.
