    Trayvon Reed

Texas Southern will need another big season from its 7-foot-2 anchor if it wants to make a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. So far Reed hasn’t disappointed. The Auburn transfer has upped his scoring average from 9.7 points per game last season to 14.1 this season. Reed has also remained a steady rebounding and rim-protecting presence.

But what’s been most impressive about Reed’s senior campaign so far is his biggest performances have come in marquee games. Texas Southern has three wins against power conference teams this year, and Reed saved his best stuff for these matchups. His second highest point total this season came in a November win against Oregon and likely top 5 NBA draft pick Bol Bol. As a former 4-star recruit, Reed is arguably the most talented player lacing it up for an HBCU in 2019.
