At this point, it has been a little difficult to write about this administration. We are one month into a 48-month prison sentence, and it looks like we might make it without being shanked.
There have been so many moving parts in this comedy of errors that it is hard to keep up. The man who ran on the campaign promise of bringing more jobs is firing so many government employees that we can’t even keep planes in the sky.
A man who ran on the platform of white nationalism is now proudly proclaiming himself as “king.”
Yes, you are reading correctly; he has proclaimed himself king, and while be presented as a joke, the manner in which it has been told is no laughing matter.
Just two days after celebrating President’s Day, the official Instagram page of the White House posted what looks like a cover of Time Magazine, but is actually an AI-generated graphic, posted by White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich, of Donald Trump with a crown on top of his head, and the caption, “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”
This was the president’s response to the only order he has made in the last month, and quite a few have been met with a positive response, even though it only affects people in New York City. He is referring to his executive order striking down the new controversial legislation that would have charged drivers in the area a larger toll during more congested times of the day. With that said, imagine if presidents of the past decided to gloat and tease a dictatorship simply because they terminated the approval of legislation—in one city.
According to the current history books, this country was founded on the principles of rejecting monarchial rule like a whole ass war was fought so that we could spell it “color” instead of “colour”, and here is the president of the United States—who has previously been caught telling voters this is the last time they will ever have to vote—mocking the very fiber of this country’s alleged most important principle, freedom.
The worst part about this is that the smarter you are, the more dangerous you realize the situation is, but the majority of his supporters are either too in love with their own bigotry to care or too dumb to notice, mostly both. Those who don’t learn their history are doomed to repeat it, and while many people are not alive when their country is formed or dissolved, some people are, and maybe that’s what is happening now.
As we watch what very much looks like the country being stolen by a South African and his proxy king, it leads one to wonder if Make America Great Again, was actually Make America? Great, Again???
