Ever wonder why some grown people want to act like they’re still in grade school? I was recently talking to someone who I noticed had a very immature mentality. They had a lot of preconceived notions of the world-especially about women-that were very superficial and unsubstantial. It felt like they were projecting on to me all of their hidden insecurities and it was obvious that their vision was clouded by materialism and narcissism.

My latest favorite phrase when coming across foolery in life is “Arrested Development.” Wiktionary defines ‘arrested development’ as “being a state where development has stopped prematurely.” The term is usually connotated with the psychological development of a person when it comes to someone’s maturity. As we age we’re supposed to grow older and wiser. We’re supposed to learn from the mistakes we made in our earlier years, hold ourselves accountable and correct them so we can raise the next generation up accordingly. You don’t expect a 60 year old person to act the same way a 16 year old would-that would just be weird.

I say all this to highlight that when it comes to celebrity drama (and honestly just life in general), we need to recognize that a lot of people are stuck in a state of arrested development. People’s concepts of reality can be warped from social media, extreme fan bases, idolization, insecurity, brown nosers and more. I think people need to be more wary of feeding into certain narratives and looking up to adults that never grew up.

Anyways let’s get into the tea.

DDG Teases Diss Track at Halle Bailey “Don’t Take My Son”

    View this post on Instagram

A post shared by DDG (@ddg)

Rapper and twitch streamer, DDG, recently took to social media to tell the world that his ex-girlfriend, singer and actress Halle Bailey, is apparently keeping their son away from him. DDG (whose real name is Daryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) and Bailey started dating in 2022, they welcomed their son, Halo, into the world in December of 2023 and subsequently broke up in 2024. Their roller coaster of a relationship on social media has sent fans in a frenzy, and baby Halo may be the youngest TikTok star ever. The public is very invested in this family.

So on Friday, Granberry was livestreaming on his Twitch platform and decided to voice his frustration with Bailey, claiming he was kicked out of her house when he tried to visit Halo. “I don’t have [any] type of say so,” he said. “I don’t give a f*** if this makes me seem childish. I just want to see my son when I want to see my son [and] take my son when I want to take my son.”

He goes on to say that he hopes this stream will make Bailey “have to let [him] see his son.” He explains how this past week viewers haven’t seen him post a lot with Halo-as he usually does-and is instead streaming with a lot of female creators because of this. Mind you Halo has become a fan favorite of the rapper’s streams and is the source of countless social media memes.

In the stream, Granberry then teases a track he made titled “Don’t Take My Son” where he just basically repeats that phrase, says these “ thots” don’t matter to him, he needs a Grammy, he knows Bailey isn’t going to move on, he’s rich, he loves his son, etc. To me, it was pretty cringey.

Halle Bailey hasn’t responded to the allegations, but had posted earlier that day (before DDG went live) saying that she and Halo both tested positive for COVID-19. She added that she wouldn’t be on social media as they both felt very sick.

The drama has sent media users on a rampage, giving their thoughts on the latest between these two. Hopefully these two can figure out their coparenting with one another for their baby’s sake, but this should be dealt with behind closed doors-not by the public. I won’t lie, I’m a fan of watching Granberry’s clips with his son and Bailey on TikTok. I liked them as a couple from the beginning but it’s clear Granberry has some growing up to do (or at least rethinking) because his timing was terrible! Why would he post this while they are sick? And why would you tease a song about this while also talking about ‘thots’ and money? It just seems pretty disingenuous and immature, and now you have all these people in social media going back and forth over this BS song. I think these two will be able to sort this out though-hopefully with a win-win-win solution outside of the hypercritical public eye.

Young parents are obviously going to make mistakes also, and it’s not the public’s job to persecute them for it. Most importantly, a baby deserves their mother and their father.

Lebron James Gets Into It With Stephen A. Smith

A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom)

Things got tense between sports commentator, Stephen A. Smith and NBA Hall of Famer, Lebron James, in a courtside exchange on Thursday, March 6. James approached Smith as he was watching the Lakers vs. the Knicks to express his disdain towards comments made about his son, Bronny James Jr. A video subsequently got leaked in the exchange and the public latched on to this.

Stephen A. Smith has criticized Bronny Jr. ‘s entrance into the NBA, claiming he is not ready. The rising basketball player was drafted as a rookie, and plays mostly for the Lakers G-League team. Smith noted Lebron’s vocalization in the past that he wanted his last year on the court playing alongside his son, and that Bronny needed to be drafted with him if a team wanted him.

The night of the heated exchange was rumored to be the same night Smith signed a $100 million deal with ESPN. Smith took to his show, “First Take,” to address the gossip.

“That wasn’t a basketball player confronting me,” Smith said. “That was a parent. That was a father.”

Smith didn’t walk back on his criticism however.

“I wasn’t talking about Bronny,” he later adds. “I was really, really talking about [Lebron] because of the position that Bronny was in. But I really understood where he was coming from. He was very, very upset. I could tell. He could have called me. I’d have come to see him. I’d have had a conversation with him. He could have been just as upset face-to-face, man-to-man, as opposed to being courtside at the game.”

Doechii Joins Lauryn Hill On Stage In Miami

Let me preface this by saying that Doechii is a beacon of hope for Gen-Z entertainers! Her talent is undeniable-she’s unique, creative and on fire! I am loving this for her.

Doechii is on an endless winning streak. Her old “Anxiety” freestyle over Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” beat resurfaced years after she originally dropped the snippet-going viral on TikTok and prompting the artist to recently drop the full version of the song.

Additionally in her home state, the Swamp Princess joined her idol, Ms. Lauryn Hill, on stage at Miami Gardens for Miami Festival Jazz. The young Grammy winner, whose real name is Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, 26, performed alongside Hill as she sang/rapped her iconic song “Doo-Wop That Thing.” It was truly a legend beside legend-in-the-making spectacle.

Following the performance, Doechii took to Instagram to share about her experience.

“I carried your principles with me during my coming of age,” she wrote. “And I carry them with me now at this current stage of my career, your lyrics are close to my heart. Thank you Miss Lauryn Hill. This is the greatest honor hip hop could give me. Praise God.”

The Mess Between Anthony Edwards and Ayesha Howard

    View this post on Instagram

A post shared by DomIsLive NEWS (@domislivenews)

In a case of arrested development, NBA star Anthony Edwards has been making headlines, but not for his shooting guard game. The Minnesota Timberwolves player has found himself in a tricky situation as he is going viral for not wanting custody or visitation rights for his baby daughter with influencer, Ayesha Howard. Texts were recently shared between the two in court filings that show Edwards telling Howard to get an abortion. Edwards is 23 years old with a girlfriend since 2020 that he had a daughter with in 2023. Howard is 38 years old and also has a nine year old son with Lil Baby.

Edwards and Howard have been in a legal battle over paternity and child support, with a recent court decision that resulted in Edwards favor. While Howard tried to file for child support in California, Edwards counteracted this by saying it should be dealt with in Georgia, because that’s where Howard had been staying at the time. He claimed she had “strategically” moved to California to get more money out of him in child support. The California court ended up ruling that they don’t have jurisdiction over this case, thus sending it to Georgia-an interesting result when it comes to child support cases.

Commentators find the age difference to be pretty weird (I agree). Some people have been siding with Howard, calling Edwards a dead beat dad, whereas others say Howard was plotting on Edwards. Regardless, I think it’s important to remember the basic lessons we were all taught in health class: it takes two to tango and if you don’t want a baby, wrap it up. Why does that seem so trivial to a lot of famous people? The baby is here now and hopefully both of her parents will figure out a way to do the right thing.
