Many people know R&B singer Jacquees for his songs such as “B.E.D,” “At the Club” and “Say Yea,” but they do not know him for his business acumen. The 28-year-old Georgia native introduced his business side of him to fans with the opening of his new restaurant, The Wine and Tapas Lounge.
Jacquees, who was born Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, first got involved with the venture through his business partner Voneka Marks. The duo began collaborating in October 2021 and now the restaurant is open for business. Jacquees wanted the location of the restaurant to be one that was representative of his youth. The Wine and Tapas Lounge is located within walking distance from Stonecrest Mall in Stonecrest, Georgia and the mall was a place that the singer frequented as a youth.
The singer noted, “I got into the business with Voneka, upgraded the spot a little, and did some little things to it. I wanted to keep it grown and sexy while bringing a good time to the Eastside.” Now patrons have a new spot to enjoy hookah and small plates. The restaurant debuted with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 4 and the mayor of Stonecrest was in attendance. Jacquees took to social media to share news of the ceremony and added, “I’m honored to be able to give back to my community and provide a place where you can enjoy yourself, catch a vibe, eat and feel safe!”
In addition to providing the city of Atlanta with a new place to hang out, Jacquees also hopes to create more jobs for local Black and brown people. The Wine and Tapas Lounge is looking for guest hosts, bartenders and hookah hosts. And the restaurant’s first executive chef will be a childhood friend of Jacquees.
The lounge’s 160-square-foot interior seats around 100 customers and hosts a variety of themed nights. Special events include fight nights and gamedays, karaoke nights and R&B-only nights. The Wine and Tapas Lounge also hosts brunch on Sunday, which features menu items consisting of salmon and grits, breakfast sliders, bottomless mimosas and more. Interested patrons can visit the lounge from Wednesday through Sunday and make reservations by texting 347-736-2528.
