Hollywood’s youngest executive producer, Marsai Martin, is expanding her reach and entering the digital fashion space. The Black-Ish actress has become known for her fashionable red carpet looks and walked the runway in Rihanna’s 4th annual Savage X Fenty Fashion show on Nov. 9.
Martin announced the launch of her digital clothing line with Genies Studio App shortly after her appearance in the fashion show. The actress stated via social media, “IT’S HERE! My first ever digital fashion collection from me, to you.” Genies is a digital studio where users can make their own avatars and customize their outfits. The personalized avatars can be used in apps such as Giphy, iMessage, and Instagram.
Genies Studio App was founded in 2017 and Martin introduced her own personalized avatar to the world in 2021. She was excited to showcase the avatar and added, “Miss ma’am is ready to take over the metaverse…more exclusive digital goods coming soon.” Now in 2022, Martin has kept her word and released the “Spread Your Wings Collection.”
When addressing the digital fashion line, Martin noted she “designed this collection with my little boss girl genie to encourage you to spread your wings and empower you even beyond the physical world.” The collection features four unique items that can be customized and range in price from $5 to $10. Buyers can choose from the “Frequent Flyers” joggers, “Hater Blockers” shades, “Wingspan Jacket,” or “Step Up Sneaks.” The winged-tip golden sneakers seem to be a popular item amongst customers as they are low in stock.
Each piece was designed with a purpose. The collection’s website notes that “with these pieces, you’ll learn how to feel confident in your own skin, take hold of your own personal power, and manifest the life of your dreams.” Over 1,000 items have been created from the collection since it launched last week.
