Patrick Ewing Rejoins the Knicks As Basketball Ambassador

Patrick Ewing, Hall of Fame center and the greatest Knick of all time, has rejoined the team that originally drafted him with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft, this time as a Basketball Ambassador.

Ewing played with New York for 15 seasons, helping to transform the team into one of the most dominant ones during the 1990s. At the end of the 1999-00 season, Ewing was sent to Seattle and the team once recognized as the toughest and most physical team in the league was no more.

After two more seasons in the league, Ewing retired and moved into coaching in 2002, first as an assistant with the Washington Wizards before moving to the Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic and Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets.

In 2017 he returned to Alma mater, Georgetown, as the Hoyas’ new head coach.

He led the team until 2023 when he was let go.

Now, almost 25 years after he last wore a New York uniform, Ewing returns to the Big Apple and the organization that he dominated the paint for.

While his role hasn’t been publically defined yet, SNY reports that he’s “expected to be involved with players, coaches and executives in the new role.”

    Welcome home Patrick!
