With more than 20 million ballots already cast by late October, Election Day approaches across much of the United States. In Class With Carr 346, “Running in Place,” examines governance-centered African political engagement amid growing tensions within the U.S. federal social structure.
How do we mobilize resources, defend our communities against systemic assault and political erosion, and strengthen the Momentum of Memory to secure our collective future?
Building on Session 345’s discussion of defending “home,” we examine Movement and Memory as foundations for voting as collective self-defense and self-preservation, rather than individual interest, patriotic responsibility, civic duty or “saving America.”
Amid escalating efforts to intimidate voters and suppress political participation, we reaffirm community-supported education and active study as essential tools of resistance, collective empowerment and building a better future.
