The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

This is the story of a chubby boy growing up in New Jersey and is literally coming of age. It is the story of the history of the Dominican Republic under the brutal Trujillo. Diaz is able to tell a story about a boy and enlighten readers on the horrors committed by Trujillo and tie it all together. You will learn and gain insight and wisdom and the storytelling is great.
