Artist, organizer and strategist, Beatrice Beckford, sits with Lurie Daniel Favors to discuss the harmful banning of books and how this type of censorship is an attack on learning.

    About Beatriz Beckford

Beatriz is an artist, educator, and strategist who exemplifies experienced and intentional leadership in movements for social change. She brings over 20 years of experience in strategy planning, organizational development and operations, community organizing, architecting multilayered campaigns, developing integrative arts and popular education programs, facilitation, process design, coalition and alliance building, capacity building, grassroots fundraising and development, and philanthropy expertise.

Using liberation theory, transformative justice, arts, and leveraging community wisdom and leadership are core principles that Beatriz believes bring people together to build beloved societies that can thrive across the spectrum of difference. These values fuel her passion for organizing, liberatory education, art and design from the grassroots, and her love of community.
