GOP Lawmaker Moves to Impeach Fani Willis

Republican state senator Colton Moore is calling for the impeachment of Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis.

The move comes days after Willis delivered a 41-count indictment against former president Donald Trump and his allies on state racketeering and conspiracy charges over efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Moore wrote a letter to Governor Brian Kemp, urging him to take action.

“We, the undersigned … hereby certify to you … that in our opinion an emergency exists in the affairs of the state, requiring a special session to be convened … for all purposes, to include, without limitation, the review and response to the actions of Fani Willis,” Moore wrote.

As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis.

Moore is pressing for Kemp to investigate Willis’s conduct due to poor conditions at Fulton County Jail. He also accuses Willis of abusing her position in her pursuit to bring Trump to justice.

Kemp has the authority to summon an emergency session or an emergency session can be called if 3/5 of both legislative chambers request an emergency session. However, Kemp will unlikely oblige as the day after the indictment in Fulton County was announced, he rebutted Trump’s claims on his Truth Social, claiming that the 2020 election was stolen.

I launched the process to investigate Fani Willis for targeting Donald Trump.

    No more empty promises.

    No more talking in circles.

The time for action is NOW!

We must defund her office… and if appropriate… IMPEACH.

“The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen. For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward – under oath – and prove anything in a court of law. Our elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to be as long as I am governor,” Kemp wrote on X. “The future of our country is at stake in 2024 and that must be our focus.”
