Kelly Rowland Doubles Down on Chris Brown Defense: ‘I Believe That Grace Is Very Real’

Kelly Rowland made headlines this week after she defended Chris Brown following loud booing from the audience after nabbing the award for Favorite Male R&B Artist at the American Music Awards 2022.

The reaction to Rowland telling the crowd to “chill out,” was mixed, but in a recent interview, the singer doubled down on her defense of Brown. Rowland thinks it’s time to give Brown a second chance. On stage, Rowland proudly accepted the award on Brown’s behalf.

“I believe that grace is very real, and we all need a dose of it,” Rowland told TMZ. “And before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we get, for even our own things that we have. I just think it’s important to remember to be human. We are humans.”

Earlier this week, Brown shared via his social media that he was initially slated to perform a Michael Jackson tribute but that his performance was canned. The most glaring incident was when the star pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards. He was sentenced to community service, domestic-violence counseling and a restraining order.

While the AMAs are yet to address the claims, speculation that the singer’s troubled past impacted their decision.

“We all need to be forgiven for anything that we could be doing, anything that we’re thinking,” Rowland continued. “We all come up short in some sort of way, and grace is real, and we are humans and everybody deserves grace, period.”

Chris Brown was suppose to do Michael Jackson tribute for the 40th anniversary of Thriller (the album) at the #AMAs this Sunday.

However, the AMA’s canceled it without telling him their reason … here is footage of him rehearsing
