The Mino Were Power Players
Serving in the Mino, who made up a third of the Dahomey army, gave these women power, wealth and influence. They held a prominent role in the Grand Council, debating the policy of the kingdom. They were instrumental in peace treaties with opposing factors and were instrumental in mapping out trade (palm oil) with England.
