Who’s Funding It?
Sports Pro Media reports that the NBA and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will be responsible for providing financial support and resources “toward developing basketball on the continent.”
They will also offer training for players, coaches, referees as well as other resources to help to build and develop the league’s infrastructure.
“We’re excited to work closely with the NBA to develop and put in place a professional league like none that we have ever seen in our region before,” added Fiba Africa executive director Alphonse Bile. “Through the Basketball Africa League, we can provide the many great clubs and players with the best possible environment to compete for the highest stakes.”
