Weekend Entertainment Recap: September 19th

This weekend kicked off with the 25-year anniversary of two classic albums, Mariah Carey’s Butterfly and Usher’s My Way. Butterfly is the sixth studio album from Mariah Carey, and it was released on September 16, 1997, under Columbia Records. The album included songs such as “Honey,” “Babydoll” and of course “Butterfly.” Fellow singer Usher released his second studio album, My Way, on the same date under LaFace Records. The album featured tracks like “You Make Me Wanna,” “Nice and Slow” and “My Way.”

If there is one couple that knows how to keep people talking, rapper Blueface and his girlfriend Chrisean Rock, would be an obvious choice. The two make headlines on a consistent basis for problematic reasons such as fighting, getting arrested or claims of infidelity.

However, this weekend they upped the ante with a family brawl. Both Blueface and Chrisean Rock confirmed via social media that he knocked out his girlfriend’s father. A crowd gathered outside of a Baltimore establishment and chaos erupted after her father lunged toward the rapper. Chrisean believed Blueface’s actions were justified and took her boyfriend’s side.

A physical altercation between R&B singers Tory Lanez and August Alsina was also reported over the weekend. August Alsina claims he was assaulted by Tory Lanez because he did not “dap him up.” Alsina took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself slouched against an elevator wall with blood coming from his mouth.

Although the picture was posted as proof, Tory Lanez is alleging that he did not get into an altercation and has been busy working in the studio. August Alsina has also called for Tory Lanez and his team to put out the alleged video of the incident.

While artists were throwing punches, Chrissy Teigen was dodging them. The model came under fire this weekend after revealing that her 2020 “miscarriage” was actually an abortion. Teigen spoke at a social impact summit and noted that it came as a shock to her when she reconciled the notion of her miscarriage being an abortion. She was informed that the child she was carrying would not survive which led her to make a “difficult and heartbreaking” decision.

The model stated that it was “an abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance.” Critics accused the star of lying or trying to use the situation to get attention. The backlash prompted her to respond with a message of her own – “It doesn’t make me feel worse.”

Another shocking reveal this weekend stems from the charges brought against Chaka Zulu, the longtime manager of rapper Ludacris. Chaka Zulu, whose legal name is Ahmed Obafemi, was charged with murder for a fatal shooting at an Atlanta restaurant that occurred back in June.

The manager and co-founder of Disturbing Tha Peace Records was involved in a shooting which resulted in the death of one person, and Chaka Zulu also sustained a gunshot wound to the back. He turned himself in and was released after posting a $200,000 bond.
