Black women have been hit especially hard by the Trump administration’s agenda.
In 2025, Black women lost an estimated 155,656 public-sector jobs, including more than 95,000 federal positions, according to the Economic Policy Institute, helping to contribute to an increasing unemployment rate, which rose from 5.8% in 2024 to 6.7% in 2025. Since being in office, Trump’s administration has cut hundreds of thousands of federal jobs and dismantled DEI programs.
In this episode of “Karen Hunter Is Awesome”, Karen Hunter and “The Cashflow Coach” Tremell McKenzie address the systemic pushback against Black women in corporate spaces, responding to insights from Dr. Tressie McMillan Cottom while highlighting the essential role of community, self-worth and financial independence in navigating workplace uncertainty.
