The story was so compelling that when it was done, there was a bidding war for it off the first 100 pages. Push was published by prestigious publishing house Alfred Knopf and sold more than 100,000 copies in his first run. The story was so vivid it was optioned for a movie. Precious catapulted the career of Lee Daniels and garnered Mo-Nique an Oscar for the role of Precious’s mother.
