In May, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina announced he would be seeking the Republican nomination for president in 2024. “My mom’s work ethic taught me there is dignity in all work. It’s why I know if you are able-bodied, you work! Period,” he said at the time. “My momma said we could be victims or victors — and she chose victorious. But under President Biden, our nation is retreating away from work and dignity.”  Scott, the Senate’s only Black Republican, was one of eight GOP presidential nominees who qualified for the Republican presidential primary debate but 8 minutes 15 seconds, according to The New York Times’s time tracker.

Despite his relatively quiet performance, should we be paying closer attention to Scott? Karen Hunter and Don Calloway discuss.
