Awards season is back – and once again, Black excellence is taking center stage!

Last Sunday, January 11th, the 2026 Golden Globes were held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, and this year, as in years past, Hollywood’s melanated elite lit up the red carpet to champion self-expression, activism and the elevation of the culture.

Over the decades, their sartorial decisions have consistently defied traditional molds and challenged prevailing norms to redefine what glamour and style can mean. From vibrant colors to intricate designs, each look told a story, and together, they created a powerful platform to remind the world that diversity in the arts and entertainment matters now more than ever.

Teyana Taylor, for instance, stole the show in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown that was as bold as it was beautiful. It featured a daring “party in the back” whale-tail style thong detail revealed through a striking rear cutout, effortlessly blending high fashion with a playful nod to contemporary tabloid trends. This sculptural elegance not only highlighted her fearless style but also perfectly matched the heartfelt essence of her Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture win for One Battle After Another. During her acceptance speech, she passionately addressed the importance of Black women’s visibility in the industry, making her fashion choice a statement of both confidence and cultural significance.

Tessa Thompson’s custom chartreuse sequined Balenciaga gown was not only a feast for the eyes with its striking color and sleek fit but also a meaningful tribute to her film, Hedda. The dress was a radiant display of style, but it was her clutch that really made a statement – adorned with badges reading “Be Good” and “ICE OUT,” she shined a spotlight on pressing social justice issues, honoring victims like Renee Nicole Good. Ms. Thompson’s choice reflected a commitment to using her platform for change, proving that high-profile events can be just as much about making a statement as it is about featuring glamour.

We’ve rounded up ten of the most stylish Black celebrities at this year’s Golden Globes, each one leaving a lasting impression that extends far beyond the bright lights of the cameras. With every stride, these stars not only displayed an array of fashion choices, they were as compelling as the stories behind them.
