This week, Dr. Greg Carr celebrated 23 years at Howard University.

Dr. Carr is an Associate Professor of Afro-American Studies at the prestigious university and an Adjunct Professor at the Howard School of Law. To commemorate Dr. Carr’s anniversary, The Hilltop Online profiled “The People’s Professor,” highlighting his extensive contributions to the institution and beyond.

“Outside the classroom, Dr. Carr was a very key figure for my own intellectual development and radical commitment to the work of freeing our people,” senior Africana Studies major Samuel Anthony told the publication. “He’s always been there helping me stay aligned to the mission of Africana Studies as its own disciplinary formation. We have our own ways of studying, researching, reviewing ourselves and centering ourselves.”

As readers of TheHub.news will already be aware, Dr. Carr is the Chief Seba of Knarrative, where he also instructs his widely popular “In Class With Carr” series. His unique, full-circle storytelling abilities have entranced an army of thousands, helping the platform to garner an audience in the tens of thousands, making it the largest Africana Studies classroom in the world.

“To me, Greg Carr is more than a colleague. We are brothers in the deepest sense of that word. I have seen his walk for over thirty years and it’s been a great and mighty walk on so many levels. And he has touched so many people with his contribution,” Dr. Mario Beatty, associate professor of Afro-American Studies, expressed.

“People are using his Africana Studies framework all over this country, in school settings, in communities, in various institutions and organizations. His influence is deep, it’s wide and it’s going to be enduring and long-lasting,” he said.

Through teachings both here and abroad, Dr. Carr continues to inspire unparalleled forward movement around the globe.
