Today, in protest of police brutality and injustice, people are called to black out their social media, filling Twitter, Instagram and Facebook with black squares, giving time to dedicate to the Black Lives Matter movement.

People are asked not to use the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, so that the messaging that they are putting out won’t also be blacked out.

According to the organizers they want this to be, “a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community” through “an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change.”

Celebrating US from one end of the land to the other. We record our acts, our accomplishments, our sufferings, and our temporary defeats throughout the diaspora. We bring content that is both unique and focused on showing the world our best. Unapologetically.
