Black Lives Matter Chicago (BLM) is demanding a refund for U.S. weapons sent to Israel amid the war with Hamas.

Following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks, Israel rained down on Gaza with airstrikes, killing at least 15,500 Palestinians in Gaza. In Israel, the official death toll stands at about 1,200

Despite nationwide calls for a ceasefire, President Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that the U.S. would stand with Israel during the conflict and pledged more military assistance despite the country already receiving $3.8 billion in U.S. military aid. According to Bloomberg News, The U.S. will provide more laser-guided missiles for its Apache gunship fleet, 155mm shells, night-vision devices, bunker-buster munitions and new army vehicles.

“We’re surging additional military assistance, including ammunition and interceptors to replenish the Iron Dome,” Biden said last month, days after the Hamas attack. “We’re going to make sure that Israel does not run out of these critical assets to defend its cities and its citizens.”

“This is not about party or politics. It’s about the security of our world, the security of the United States of America,” he added.

Black Lives Matter Chicago’s official X account, formerly Twitter, to state its objection to U.S. weapons being sent to Israel. Reposting an image from Refaat in Gaza, the organization quote-tweeted, “We want our money back!!!”

In a separate tweet, BLM addressed criticism that the war in Palestine is not a “Black issue.”

“Reminder for those who say Palestine isn’t a Black issue, Palestinians especially the men showed up and out for us without being asked. We haven’t & will never forget this.”
