The Road by Cormac McCarthy

The writing in this book is simply amazing, which makes the content all the more gripping. It is the story of a father and a son who must traverse the country alone during what appears to be the end of the world. The disaster is merely the backdrop, the scenery to the relationship between this father and son and what each are willing to do survive in a world that no longer has rules and order.
