3. He comes from a basketball family

The Porters are serious hoopers. His father, Michael Sr., played for the University of New Orleans and is an assistant coach at Missouri. Porter’s mother, Lisa, averaged nearly 60 points (yes, six-zero) in high school. She scored 1,335 points during her career at the University of Iowa and helped the school earn its first Big Ten Championship and NCAA tournament berth.

But Michael Jr. isn’t the only Porter given great hoops genes. He played alongside his brother, Jontay,  at Missouri last season. Jontay averaged just under 10 points per game in his freshman year. Porter’s sisters, Bri and Cierra, also played for the Tigers. Their college careers were cut short due to knee injuries. Before being forced into medical retirement, Cierra averaged nearly 10 points and eight rebounds per game last season.
