He’s eager to turn the Draft-Day Boos into Cheers

Knox did not receive a warm New York welcome when his name was called on draft night. Knicks fans chanted for the team to draft Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr with the ninth selection. But as Knox donned the Knicks cap and shook commissioner Adam Silver’s hand, boos rained down from the Barclays Center rafters.

But Knox seemed unfazed by the hostile reception. He vowed to use the jeers as motivation and noted that Porzingis was also booed on draft night.

“[Knicks fans] can chant Michael Porter all they want,” Knox said after the selection. “But they got Kevin Knox and I am willing to work and I am willing to get better.”

He’s already beginning to turn Knicks fans into believers. Knox has been one of the standout rookies at the Las Vegas Summer League. After two games, Knox is averaging more than 20 points per game and is becoming an internet favorite with showstopping dunks like these.

If he continues to show this level of promise, Knox will have soon have the same fans who booed him at Barclays cheering for him at Madison Square Garden.
